“Display” or “screen”

“File tree” Files and folders form a “tree”.
Folders are new “branches”,
and files are at the end of “branches”.

“Folder” A folder is for organising files and folders,
so that you can find them easily. For example, if you your shirt or blouse is not in your almirah,
you will have too look everywhere,
and you will be late for work. For the same reason,
you put exam papers for September 2024 in one folder,
to easily find it when you need it.

“Keyboard” Used for writing and shortcuts.

“Mouse” Used to move around the “cursor” or “pointer”. Same use as “trackpad”,
but fits in hand and is moved on table.

“Left click” or “click” “Click” means “left click” because it is used everywhere.
It is used for the default or main action.

“Power button” Turn laptop on and off.

“Trackpad” Used to move the “cursor” or “pointer”,
by moving your finger on the large touch area. Same use as mouse,
but is flat and doesn’t move.

If the cursor is on a button,
the click will work on the button. This is also called “mouse”,
because it is moved by the mouse.

without using the mouse to click inside menus.

account information and logout options,
a way to search apps and files,
and a list of all apps.

the “search” button,
favourite (“pinned”) apps,
and currently open apps.

“Window” The box inside which an app shows things.
The box can be moved, resized and closed.

“Windows (OS)” The main “app” inside which other apps and things open. Windows (OS) has the taskbar, desktop, window close buttons,
start menu, settings and more. OS means operating system,
which means the “app” inside which other apps open,
and where files and folders exist.

which is on your phone,
and Linux, macOS, and iOS.
